Course

Electrical Engineering 2 (ELE200)

The objectives of this course are to give the students an introduction to some advanced subjects in electrical engineering. The main subjects are: Dynamical behaviour of 2. order systems, theoretical basis and practical issues on amplifiers, filters and power transistors. The course gives a necessary foundation for courses on control, instrumentation and electronics design in addition to bachelor projects on electronics and the student driven projects at UiS.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • After finishing this course the students have got knowledge in analysing simple Electronic Circuits. They have also got fundamental introduction to, and use of some important electronic elements.

Skills:

  • The Students will be able to calculate currents, voltages, power and energy in the circuits by using different Circuit Analyse Technics. They will be able to find the Transfer Function and Frequency Response for a Circuit, and construct the Bode-Plot. They will also be able to calculate and understand some caracteristics of different analogous filters and simple amplifiers.

In general:

  • After finishing this course the Student has established a fundamental knowledge of how some different simple electronic circuits are constructed and how they work.

Exercises, Laboratory work

4 out of 8 written assignments and 6 lab assignments must be approved within the specified deadline before taking the exam.

Completion of mandatory lab assignments are to be made at the times and in the groups that are assigned and published. Absence due to illness or for other reasons must be communicated as soon as possible to the laboratory personnel. One cannot expect that provisions for completion of the lab assignments at other times are made unless prior arrangements with the laboratory personnel have been agreed upon.

Failure to complete the assigned labs on time or not having them approved will result in barring from taking the exam of the course.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
