The course covers different levels of knowledge at a more foundational level within development, utlization/operations, reuse/repurpose/recyle/upcycle of industrial assets, infrastructures, and systems, as well as relevant processes and managerial issues, from a broader value creation and risk mitigation perspectives.

Content

The course is divided into two modules. In the first module, theories, principles, and practices within selected areas will be discussed that have implications on engineering, operations, and management of industrial assets, systems, and processes. The second module is dedicated to the review and reflections based on selected practical industrial cases to strengthen further understanding and knowledge.

The course comprises relevant articles on the subject matter from diverse scholarly sources. The issues and cases/examples that will be taken into the second module can be varied depending on the learning needs.

Learning outcome

An understanding and knowledge on foundational issues and practices related to engineering, operations, and management of industrial assets, systems, and processes based on a combined academic and practical perspectives. It is also expected that the students develop necessary skills for reviewing and reflecting independently based on other scholarly work, and also develop skills to defend of their own concepts, new ideas, and new perspectives.

No option for repeat is offered on the final report or oral exam. Students who do not pass the report or oral exam can take these parts again the next time the subject has regular teaching.
