Content
The course gives a thorough introduction to and understanding of hydrodynamics, linear wave theory and calculation of on current, wave and wind forces on marine and offshore structures. Principles for the dimensioning of structures are discussed. Furthermore, stability of floating structures is discussed. Knowledge related to both static and dynamic analyses will be covered in this course. The lecture notes will be provided throughout the course.
Learning outcome
After completing the course, the students should be able to (in a basic way):
- perform calculations of hull buoyancy and load capacity of floating structures.
- calculate hydrostatics and stability of floating structures.
- understand wind, wave and current, and perform environmental load calculations.
- perform dynamic analyses of marine and offshore structures.
- perform simple design tasks of marine systems

Course assessment
There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital subject evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
