The course will cover the theory of science, research methods, and research ethics. It will be linked to evidence-based practice and highlight the connections between various scientific theoretical perspectives significant for midwifery research and development work within the midwifery competence areas in both national and global contexts.

Content

The focus will be on the research process, including formulating research questions, hypotheses/research questions, theoretical perspectives, methodological considerations, data collection, and research ethics evaluations. The subject contributes to the development of knowledge about research ethics considerations, the design of research, and the planning of one’s research. In the seminars, students analyse and critically evaluate research-based knowledge.
