Content

Planning in developed areas/existing environments is a complex and multidisciplinary task. The course deals with planning and/or renewal of areas in existing cities and towns. The course studies the aesthetic, technical and functional aspects of planning, programming and implementating of projects in municipal or private sector.

Learning outcome

The goal is to create a basic understanding of place making in urban areas in terms of: 2. Understanding of how plans are developed and are legally binding. 3. Gathering and analyzing data. 4. Proposing plans and designs connected to different stages in the urban development. (Concept studies, zoningplans and design catalogs.) 5. Developing critical thinking about urban design and planning.

The evaluation focuses on the students work, conducted in groups and individual. The grade is based 50 % on the groupwork and 50% on the individual part.

Supervised project work with presentations and reviews. Participation in the project is mandatory.
