Learning outcome
The course is to give students an introduction to environmental loads. Upon completing the course, the students shall:
- be familiar with snow and ice loads effects on structures as well as the load design values
- be familiar with effects of earthquake on structures, and be able to compute structural response to earthquake by using the design spectrum
- be familiar with the mean and time-varying wind forces on structures, and be able to calculate the static and dynamic wind-induced response
- be familiar with the linear wave theory and wave and current loads on structures
