Content

NB! This is an elective course and may be cancelled if fewer than 10 students are enrolled by August 20th.

Students will study the basic theory of conventional and renewable energy systems and determine the system efficiencies. Additionally, students will become familiar with the engineering economic tools for economic evaluation of the energy systems projects. The emphasis of the course is on the application of quantitative engineering techniques to energy systems, so that a comparative analysis of various options can be realized.

Learning outcome

At the end of the course:

  • The student will become familiar with the importance of the energy systems, trends in world energy use and associated challenges.
  • The student will learn essentials of various conventional and renewable energy systems and engineering calculations of their performance and economics.
  • The student will learn the comparative analysis of various energy systems. The comparisons will include both performance and cost evaluation.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
