Content

Basic concepts of QFT, second quantization, free bosonic fields (scalars and photons), Lorentz symmetry and free fermionic fields, scattering amplitudes, Feynman diagrams, elementary scattering processes, elementary aspects of loop diagrams and renormalization, gauge symmetry, standard model, higgs mechanism

Learning outcome

After completing the course, the student should:

- understand basic concepts of quantum field theory such as free scalar, photon and fermion fields, scattering amplitudes and cross-sections

- be able to compute elementary scattering processes in quantum electrodynamics 

- have a rudimentary grasp of the standard model of particle physics
