Content
Concepts form pre-calculus and calculus. Numbers, algebra, equations and inequalities. Functions and second order expressions. Logarithms with base 10 and base e. Limits and asymptotes, derivatives, analysis of extrema for functions of one variable. Sequences and series. Mechanics: primarily movement and force.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: Know about the concepts presented in the course so that the student is able to take further courses in mathematics and physics required in the engineering degree. Skills: The student will be able to structure, solve, document and present problems from the course content. They will also be able to interpret and evaluate solutions. The student will be able to use Matlab as a support tool for smaller problems. General competence: The student will see the use of concepts from mathematics as a tool for solving problems from both math and physics. They will see parallels between physics and math e.g., in the equations for movement.
