The course covers selected basic topics within

  • Sequence stratigraphy and depositional systems
  • Structural geology
  • Petrography and geochemistry
  • Exploratory geophysics and petrophysics
  • Subsurface interpretation
  • Geostatistics and decision analysis
  • Construction of geomodels

Learning outcome

After having completed the course, the candidate should be able to understand the basic terms in the most important areas within petroleum geoscience- and understand how these are applied in research. Students should have a thorough understanding of how geological data is collected, processed, and interpreted, in order to make decisions about the exploration of- and utilization of hydrocarbons.
