Learning outcome
Knowledge
On successful completion of this course, students will
- have knowledge of the concept of learning, based on traditions from the psychology of learning
- have knowledge of pedagogical-psychological theories and methods, and their relative strengths and weaknesses
- have knowledge of the most widely used tests for educational and psychological assessment of children and young people
Skills
On successful completion of this course, students will
- be able to select and explain pedagogical-psychological theories and methods that are relevant in connection with a given intervention case
- be able to assess and provide input for treatment plans for the most common learning difficulties in children and young people
- be able to compare these theories and methods and explain their relative strengths and weaknesses
- be able to explain and discuss different theories of motivation
- be able to discuss what constitutes good collaboration and teamwork
- be able to explain the planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching for individuals and in relevant groups
General competencies
On successful completion of this course, students will
- have a basic understanding of the thinking behind, assessment and treatment of the most common learning difficulties
- have a basic understanding of the ethical challenges that arise in connection with testing children and young people
- be able to describe, explain and compare different models
