Project-based Internship (EMM31)

The Internship (300 hours of work) offers students the opportunity to tackle specific issues in the field of Migration and Intercultural Relations. Main areas for internships and the related projects are: aid and advocacy, research and documentation, civil society and culture, local authorities, schools and continuing education. Students will be encouraged and supported to work "in the Field", including empirical research as the project dimension of their internship. Students will evaluate their internship work and their project documenting their findings in a report.

The Internship (300 hours of work) offers students the opportunity to tackle specific issues in the field of Migration and Intercultural Relations. Learning outcome

Students will have acquired:

  • an individual profile linking his/her disciplinary with transdisciplinary perspectives having expert knowledge in a specific area, documented through internship and MA thesis, further accentuated by:
  • a bi-/multilingual profile, applied in the context of EMMIR for research, interaction in the field (internship) and/or academic writing
  • the ability to present work results to various audiences/in a variety of contexts
  • the ability to engage in self-reflective interaction, including the identification and critique of power-driven, discriminating forms of communication/interaction
  • competencies in team-work in inter-/trans-cultural contexts and skills around orienting oneself and working in hitherto unfamiliar areas/countries

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
