Knowledge
The students will gain important knowledge of:
- central concerns in the chosen field of the bachelor thesis
- relevant theoretical texts related to the bachelor thesis
- ethical concerns related to academic research
- main features of academic writing
Skills
By the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- discuss central concerns within the research area of the bachelor thesis
- understand and make use of relevant research methods
- apply academic knowledge to practical and theoretical problems and explain their choices
- reflect on their own academic practice and adjust it under supervision
- find, assess and refer to information and academic material and relate it to an issue
- find and document relevant sources in academic writing
- master relevant skills for academic writing, such as critical thinking and formal language
General competence
By the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- formulate research questions for thesis writing
- gain insight into relevant ethical issues relating to thesis writing
- work independently with complex issues and present the findings in a thesis
- master written academic English
- show familiarity with and correct use of appropriate academic terminology and references
- present important academic material such as theories, problems and solutions, both in writing and orally, as well as using other relevant forms of communication
