Energy may originate from both renewable and non-renewable sources. In this course the student will get an introduction to how these different sources can be integrated into an integrated energy system.
Dette er emnebeskrivelsen for studieåret 2022-2023
The course provides the students with general knowledge of the energy technologies, the effects of intermittent renewable energy sources and the integration of different technologies for flexible and low carbon energy systems. The course also gives examples how to model and simulate integrated energy systems, consisting of intermittent and controllable technologies. The following aspects will mainly be discussed:
Centralized and decentralized (distributed) energy systems
Advantages and disadvantages of centralized and distributed energy systems
Intermittent and controllable energy technologies
Combination of energy technologies for integrated and flexible energy generation systems
Learning outcome
This course will give students a broad and basic understanding of energy technologies and integrated energy systems. They will gain an overview and understanding of energy generation in both large-scale centralized and small-scale distributed applications. They will have an understanding for the effects of intermittent renewables and the need for a combination of controllable and intermittent energy generation technologies.
