Content

The course consists of an introduction to the scientific method, with some rudiments on error analysis, in addition to mechanics and thermodynamics.

The mechanics part covers: kinematics in 1 and 2 dimensions; Newton's laws; work and mechanical energy; momentum; many-particles systems.

The thermodynamics part covers: pressure and temperature; phases and phase transitions; ideal gases; energy conservation and the first law of thermodynamics; work, heat and internal energy.

Learning outcome

Upon completion of the course, a candidate will have knowledge of Newtonian mechanics and thermodynamics and be able to formulate and perform calculations on two-dimensional mechanical systems and closed thermodynamic systems.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
