The course gives an introduction to the subject geology. It includes lectures and laboratories aimed for the understanding of basic concepts and processes in general geology and in petroleumgeology.
Dette er emnebeskrivelsen for studieåret 2014-2015
Esential topics that will be adressed in the course are: - General geology - Evolution of the Earth - Classification of rocks and minerals - Formation of oil and gas - Introduction to paleontology - Plate tectonics - Petroleum system elements - Introduction to sedimentary rocks as reservoirs - Introduction to structural geology - geophysical methods.
The course includes a field excursion to the Oslo region (2 days). The excrusion is not obligatory. The total amount of participants is limited. A field guide will be provided to all students and it contains exam material.
