Course

Structural Geology (GEO210)

This course covers the study of tectonic structures, such as faults and folds, from the geometrical, kinematic, and mechanical point view. For the geometrical part, the course makes emphasis on maps, cross sections and stereonets. For the kinematic part, the course focuses on strain. For the mechanical part, the course covers stress, and how rocks deform under stress. For both, stress and strain, the Mohr Circle is introduced. In addition, the course describes the use of linear algebra and computation to solve problems in structural geology.

Written exam 1/2 3 Hours Letter grades Standard calculator, One A4 sheet of your own handwritten notes

A midterm exam that corresponds to 50% of the grade. No PC or mobile allowed.

A final exam that corresponds to 50% of the grade. No PC or mobile allowed.

Both exams are on pen and paper.

This is the last year GEO210 is offered and therefore students who fail have no opportunity to take the subject again. Resit exams are offered.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
