Human Rights for Educators (MGL3052)

Human Rights for Educators is a course that specializes in human rights and emphasize dilemmas connected to these for young people in a school situation. The course also gives rationale for teaching human rights in public schools.

Content

Globalization, migration, and secularization make human rights issues ever relevant in a school setting. The subject in human rights is specially designed with future teachers in primary and lower secondary school in mind. Human rights that are important for identityshaping and integration into a majority population are emphasized. Human rights are highlighted from different points of view and various academic disciplines. Debates about human rights violations involving pupils, parents, teachers, schools and the curriculum are highlighted.

Home exam (2000 words +/- 10%) which count 40% of the total grade.

An oral, individual examination (30 minutes) counts for 60% of the total grade.

All assessments must be passed to get a grade in the course.
