Content

This course covers aspects of music production and recording, building on the knowledge gained in MPR 503 Music Production and Recording I.

Students will work with a wide variety of concert and studio recordings, including their own projects. Students will participate in group projects and assignments.

Learning outcome

Students completing MPR504: Music Production and Recording Practice II will have gained a variety of practical experience and advanced knowledge of music production and recording, enabling them to enhance their professional careers.

Knowledge and understanding

  • Students can understand and reflect upon artistic practice, concept development and project management, and can identify artistic and technical challenges in relation to music production and recording.

Skills

  • Students can communicate and discuss issues relating to music production.
  • Students will master music production-related methods, tools and modes of expression, and general skills relating to professional practices within music production and recording.
  • Students will evaluate and choose between the discipline's methods and tools, and propose new expressions and solution models based on artistic aesthetics.
  • Students will have a good understanding of entrepreneurship, as well as best practices, within the music production industry.

Students are required to do a 1 hour presentation of an individual project along with supporting documentation.

Students are required to deliver a portfolio of 8-10 completed music productions and project reports at the end of the semester. All materials shall be delivered via https://filesender.sikt.no.

Vilkår for å gå opp til eksamen/vurdering

Students are required to attend lectures, participate in ongoing classroom discussions, and actively practice their music production and recording techniques by working with self-selected and assigned projects.
