Master Thesis (MSBMAS)

The master's thesis is a carefully crafted scholarly document which defines and explores a research question based on original ideas and arguments developed under the influence and inspiration of primary and / or secondary sources. The thesis should have a substantial research component and must be written under the guidance of an advisor. The thesis provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate expertise and represents a test of research independence and self-reliance within his or her field of specialization.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Formulate and articulate clear research questions within their field of specialization.
  • Design and execute a scholarly-based research project to address the identified research questions.
  • Integrate and apply relevant theories and methods to elucidate the chosen research questions.
  • Evaluate the implications of their research findings on the broader field of Business Administration.

Skills

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and retrieve pertinent sources of theories and data to address the chosen research questions.
  • Critically review and synthesize existing theories and empirical evidence relevant to the research questions.
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret data to derive meaningful insights.
  • Present and debate the research findings, demonstrating an understanding of their implications within a broader context.
  • Compose a well-structured, clear, and concise thesis that effectively communicates the research questions, methodology, findings, and implications.
  • Recommend future research directions based on the outcomes of their thesis project.

All first-year courses, 60ECTS, must be passed.

Exceptions may be granted in special cases, provided that at least 60ECTS from the program are completed, including all compulsory first-year courses. Students at the Management major must in addition have completed an additional track course in the second semester.

The thesis is written in groups of 2 persons.

(Exceptions can be granted in special cases. Any application for deviation will be considered individually.)

Student must pass oral examination to be graded. The grade from the written thesis may be adjusted based on the oral exam assessment.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
