Content

The project topics must be within Marine and Offshore Technology. The chosen topics must be approved by the course coordinator and the project supervisors. Students are required to attend an introductory seminar as part of the project course. The seminar is designed to equip students with essential skills for writing their projects, such as conducting literature search, writing reports, understanding scientific publishing, and adhering to ethical standards.

Learning outcome

The students should develop the ability to familiarize themselves with a specific research topic within marine and offshore technology using scientific methods. This process includes collecting information, gaining insights through studies of relevant literature and other sources, and integrating this information with their existing knowledge. Additionally, the students should be trained in managing a comprehensive project by creating a project plan with milestones, reporting intermediate results, and completing a project report.

After completing course, the students should:

  • Understand and appreciate the importance of ethical research practices.
  • Actively engage in their own skill development and learning.
  • Be able to perform detailed scientific literature reviews, including efficient searches in literature databases.
  • Recognize the significance of conducting thorough literature reviews.
  • Be familiar with the desirable quality and content expected in independent research.
  • Define a clear project description and develop a project plan.
  • Enhance the efficiency of their individual research efforts.
  • Write concise scientific reports, ensuring proper structure, referencing, and avoidance of plagiarism.
