Content

The course includes further rehearsal and performance of a versatile repertoire. The individual student's field of interest and personal musical preferences will be considered, but will be challenged at the same time. The student's artistic and instrument technical/conducting skills, as well as communication skills, will be central to the course's content. The repertoire is planned in collaboration with the main instrument teacher and accompanist and should normally contain music from different eras and styles.

Final performing exam in the spring semester with a repertoire of approx. 45 minutes. The program may contain chamber music, but the main focus must be of a soloist nature. It can also contain, for example, orchestral excerpts for use for auditions for professional ensembles. The course supervisor approves the content and framework for the exam.It is not permitted to use repertoire from previous exams, with the exception of major works where parts have been previously performed.

Vilkår for å gå opp til eksamen/vurdering

100% compulsory attendance at classes. Participation in internal and external concerts and projects is also required to some extent. The subject demands students' independent effort and discipline.To be able to take the exam in the subject, the student must have approved all mandatory work requirements.Check the faculty's "Attendance requirements", which follow UiS's examination regulations.A repertoire list must be delivered on Canvas by the announced deadline.

Method of work

Working methods will be concentrated on individual teaching/ensemble instruction, individual work, accompaniment, concerts and dissemination activities, repertoire knowledge, chamber music, projects, workshops, master classes and interpretation.Students are responsible for keeping up to date with information on Canvas.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
