Content

Capillary pressure, wettability and hysteresis in a porous medium; Young-Laplace equation, Kelvin equation, colloid and surface chemistry, stability of thin films, quantification of wettability, correlations, scaling groups for imbibition, Barenblatt model.

Learning outcome

The students will get an understanding of capillary pressure, hysteresis and wettability so that they can evaluate the importance of these quantities in reservoir calculations and modelling of reservoir behavior for different production conditions.
