Content

Basic concepts and techniques in reliability analysis are introduced. Themes covered in the course are among others:

  • The probability theoretical foundation for risk and reliability analyses.
  • Calculation of system reliability for binary and multi-state systems.
  • Optimization of reliability and maintenance strategies.
  • Statistical analysis of reliability data for both repairable and non-repairable systems.
  • Introduction to different methods for analysis of reliability data.

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student shall:

Knowledge:

  • have basic knowledge about basic methods and the theory behind commonly used techniques in reliability analysis.

Skills:

  • be able to develop relevant expressions and apply basic theory (concepts, methods/techniques and models) in reliability analysis.

General competence:

  • general competence on use of reliability analysis in risk and safety management.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
