Content
This course addresses key theories and issues within the field of risk and safety, emphasizing the following topics: risk and related concepts, how to identify, assess, and describe risk, the risk assessment process and various risk assessment methods, risk management strategies, emergency preparedness and performance requirements, as well as regulatory requirements relevant to risk management, safety, and emergency preparedness in organizations and public sectors.
Learning outcome
After completing the course, the student will:
Knowledge:
- Have advanced knowledge of key concepts, theories, principles, and methods within the field of risk and safety.
- Understand the relationship between the risk assessment process, risk assessment methods, risk management, and emergency preparedness.
Skills:
- Be able to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various theories and methods within the field of risk and societal safety.
- Be able to apply fundamental risk-related concepts, methods, and analytical tools to practical and theoretical problem-solving within the area of societal safety.
General Competence:
- Be able to apply risk-related knowledge and skills to various application areas related to societal safety, including technology, organization, and society
- Be able to discuss requirements for and develop systems for risk and safety management in organizations and societal sectors.
- Be able to communicate about risk and safety-related issues, analyses, and conclusions.
