Customs and Movement of Goods (TOL200)
The course aims to explain customs procedures and customs processing regarding the movement of goods, as well as customs dispatch and declaration control. The lectures will be both physical at the UiS, but some will also be digital and will be stremaed by students.

Content
- Introduction to customs and the movement of goods (4 hours)
- The movement of goods and customs procedures and VAT. (6 hours)
- The Norwegian Customs Tariff, classification of goods (12 hours)
- Restrictions (6 hours)
- Customs clearance, declaration and follow-up checks (22 hours)
Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, students will have the following learning outcomes defined in general competence, knowledge and skills.
After successfully completing the course, students will have knowledge about:
- In-depth understanding of customs procedures and customs processing regarding the movement of goods
- Knowledge about how customs processing is carried out when importing and exporting goods
- Knowledge about how declaration control is carried out in order to assess the correctness of classification, origin, quantity and determination of customs value
After successfully completing the course, students are expected to be able to:
- Explain the movement of goods chain from a customs perspective and the relationship between different customs procedures
- Collect and analyse relevant information to carry out customs dispatch and declaration control
- Find and apply relevant regulations
After successfully completing the course, students will have general competence in:
- identifying their own knowledge requirements, showing self-awareness in relation to their own learning needs, and collecting and acquiring new knowledge and skills
- interacting with fellow students
- identifying and creating connections between theory and practice under supervision

There will be 50 hours of lectures. In addition, there will be seminars, assignments, presentations, self-study. Guest lecturers will be used.
Distribution of the various topics throughout the semester will be stated in a teaching plan available at the start of the semester. It is assumed that students prepare for each lecture.
