Studiet er utviklet på oppdrag fra Utdanningsdirektoratet, med bakgrunn i strategien Kompetanse for fremtidens barnehage - Revidert strategi for kompetanse og rekruttering 2023-2025. Målet med studiet er å gi barnehagelærere relevant, forskningsbasert og praksisnær kompetanse i spesialpedagogikk, i tråd med Rammeplan for barnehagen og Nasjonale retningslinjer for barnehagelærerutdanning.
Studiet «Spesialpedagogikk i barnehagen» retter seg mot barnehagelærere. Studiet utgjør 30 studiepoeng og gjennomføres på deltid over ett år. Det gjennomføres med en organisering som er tilpasset arbeidssituasjonen til barnehagelærerne.
Tilbudet er delvis nettbasert med hybrid løsning, med to samlinger à tre dager hvert semester. Med hybrid løsning menes at studenten kan delta på samlingene digitalt eller fysisk. Den øvrige studentaktiviteten foregår på nett.
Studiet finansieres gjennom Utdanningsdirektoratets ordning Kompetansestrategi for fremtidens barnehage.

I emnet «Spesialpedagogikk i barnehagen» vil studentene møte en helhetlig tilnærming til spesialpedagogikk og få tilgang på forskningsbasert kunnskap om barns læring og utvikling med særlig vekt på mestring av språk og deltakelse i det sosiale fellesskapet. Inkludering og en kritisk refleksjon over barnehagens praksis vil være gjennomgående i alle studiets tematikker. Studentene vil få en innføring i ulike teoretiske tilnærminger og forståelser, og skal på bakgrunn av dette vurdere, analysere og gjøre utprøvinger i egenpraksis. Studentene skal også kunne diskutere og reflektere over inklusjonsbegrepet sett i sammenheng med barn med særlige behov og barnehagens praksis, holdninger og verdier. Studiets fire hovedtematikker er språk- og kommunikasjonsvansker, inkludering, metodiske tilnærminger og spesialpedagogiske profesjonsfellesskap.
Emnet er ikke tilknyttet et studieprogram, men det kan søker om innpass på master i barnehagevitenskap.

Forkunnskapskrav
Bachelorgrad i barnehagelærerutdanning eller tilsvarende jamfør barnehageloven. Det er et krav at studenten jobber og er ansatt i en barnehage.

Vilkår for å gå opp til eksamen/vurdering
Obligatoriske øvinger
80% obligatorisk tilstedeværelse på undervisning på samlingene (fysisk eller digitalt)
Studentene skal skrive to fagtekster (1500 ord, +/- 10%) knyttet til utvalgte tematikker, og vil få digital respons på disse tekstene.
Studentene skal gjennomføre tre mellomarbeid som skal presenteres for faglærer og medstudenter.
Arbeidskravene vurderes som godkjent/ikke godkjent. Konsekvenser av ikke godkjent arbeidskrav er at adgang til prøving nektes. Jf. Forskrift om studier og eksamen ved Universitetet i Stavanger (eksamensforskriften), § 3-8.
Studiet er delvis nettbasert med hybrid løsning, med to samlinger à tre dager hvert semester. På samlingene vil det gjennomføres forelesninger, seminarer og studentaktiviteter som styrker læringsmiljøet. Studentene vil bl.a. få delta med kunnskaps- og erfaringsutveksling med vekt på refleksjon og vurdering av egenpraksis, basert på oppgaver som gis som mellomarbeid mellom samlingene. Studentenes egen praksis benyttes som en del av refleksjonsgrunnlaget i studiet ved at de skal gjøre utprøving i egen barnehage basert på kritisk refleksjon og teoretisk og forskningsbasert kunnskap. Læringsplattformen CANVAS vil bli brukt til kommunikasjon mellom faglærere og studenter, som veiledning, individuelle oppgaver og gruppearbeid.
Praksis
Det vil ikke være praksis, da studentene allerede er barnehagelærere som er i jobb ved siden av studiet. I stedet legges det vekt på utprøving i egen praksis og deling i eget personale.

Det skal være en tidligdialog mellom emneansvarlig, studenttillitsvalgt og studentene. Formålet er tilbakemelding fra studentene for endringer og justering i emnet inneværende semester.I tillegg skal det gjennomføres en digital emneevaluering minimum hvert tredje år. Den har som formål å innhente studentenes erfaringer med emnet.
