Content

The course gives a broad understanding within land use planning, practice within regulations planning and the use of relevant software. The subject is pedagogically grounded in problem-based and project-based learning.

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student should have

  • Insight into different aspects and preconditions for strong land use planing and sustainable urban development
  • Knowledge about principals, intentions and challenges of land use and transport planning
  • Knowledge about spatial analysis and risk assessment
  • Knowledge about the planning and buildings law and the planning process
  • Understanding of the requirements of public planning

After completing the course the student should be able to

  • Produce analytical maps of exisitng situations and conditions
  • Interpret given conditions for analysis and planning
  • Make regualtion plans with relevant illustrations, models and photomontages according to existing practice
  • Formulate planning regulations with awareness of their legal, practical and aesthetic consequences
  • Execute design and planning that meets the requirements for universal design
  • Use FocusAreal (or other relevant software) to present regulation plans

After completing the course the student should have general knowledge about

  • oral, written and graphic presentation of planning work
  • independent evaluation of planning work

Assessment consists of three parted project and a written exam. The project work is collectively evaluated and counts for 70% and the written exam 30%.

Project work: If a student fails or want to improve the grade, she/he will have to take the projects again the following year.

Project work is submitted in groups.

There is an individual compulsory assignment in addition to compulsory attendance during guidance session. Students who do not pass the compulsory acitivities will not gain access to the written exam.

Method of work

2 hours lecture, 4 hours project-based teaching, studio work and tutorials per week. The project work is done in groups.

Emneevaluering

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
