Innhold
Emnet dreier seg om verdier som mangfold, tilhørighet og bærekraftig utvikling. En vid forståelse av begrepet bærekraft vil legges til grunn for arbeidet innenfor emnet. Samfunns- og naturvitenskapelige perspektiv løftes fram. Emnet skal gi kompetanse i å analysere og kritisk vurdere hvordan barnehagefeltet speiler utfordringer i samfunnet relatert til mangfold, tilhørighet og bærekraft. I emnet vektlegges aktuell forskning og teorier om didaktiske og fagdidaktiske spørsmål og dilemma i pedagogisk arbeid med barn, personalet, foreldre og eksterne samarbeidspartnere.

Individuell hjemmeeksamen: 4000 ord (+/- 10%). Oppgaven kan presenteres som artikkel, essay eller paper, og kan gjerne også inkludere empirisk og/eller estetisk materiale som for eksempel billedmateriale, videoopptak, lydopptak og lignende.
Konsekvenser av ikke bestått/ikke avlagt eksamen senest ved utsatt eksamen, innebærer at studenten må ta ny eksamen med etterfølgende kull, i henhold til eventuelt ny og revidert emnebeskrivelse for emnet.
Hvis en kandidat fremstiller seg til ny ordinær prøving, gjelder det pensum og den prøvingsformen som er fastsatt for den aktuelle prøvingen (Eksamensforskrift for UiS, § 3-9 pkt. 3).

Individuell skriftlig hjemmeoppgave, Obligatorisk tilstedeværelse minimum 80%, Obligatorisk tilstedeværelse 70%, Muntlig presentasjon
Spesifisering av arbeidskrav
Arbeidskrav: Individuell skriftlig hjemmeoppgave: 2500 ord (+/- 10%). Som del av skriveprosessen leser studenter hverandres oppgaver og gir muntlig respons i et oppgaveseminar.
Arbeidskrav: Muntlig presentasjon-knyttet til eksamen. Hver student har 20-30 min.
Alle obligatoriske krav må være gjennomført og godkjent for å kunne gå opp til eksamen.
Studenter som får én eller flere av oppgavene vurdert til ikke godkjent ved første innlevering, gis mulighet for én ny innlevering av oppgavene i bearbeidet form.

Arbeidsformer
Det legges vekt på varierte arbeidsformer som seminar, forelesninger, faglige diskusjoner individuelle litteraturstudier og refleksjon over andres og egne skriftlige tekster, skriftlige og arbeider og presentasjoner. Studiet er organisert som samlinger med arbeidsmåter som krever høy grad av aktiv deltakelse og refleksjon. Samlingene er derfor obligatoriske (70%).
Vurdering for læring vektlegges underveis i studieforløpet. Det innebærer både egenvurdering, studenters hverandrevurdering og vurdering og veiledning fra faglærere.
