This module starts after students have completed the 20 ECTS course, The placement in schools lasts 3 ¿ 4 weeks, depending on the kind of research or project the student wants to carry out. The students will be placed in a nursery, primary or secondary school in accordance with the focus of their training requirements. Language skills will also be considered. There will be offered placements where students can use both English and Norwegian language. The kind of work during the placement will differ from teaching practice to observations and other kinds of field work.
When the student is not teaching his or her own lessons, (s)he is expected to work with the teachers, assisting small groups or individual children. During the placement the student is also expected to contribute to the life of the school in general.
The students will get supervision. There will be arranged seminars at the University College in which they can reflect and analyse their learning experiences in the classroom/nursery. These seminars, leaded by a tutor, also prepare students for writing the final assignment. This assignment can be a research report / a personal memoir of teaching experiences / or article.
