The language of anatomy. The importance of a stable homeostatic environment. Cells, structure and function. Histology. The integumentary system. The nervous system. The special senses. The endocrine system. The skeletal and muscular systems. The cardiovascular system. The respiratory system. The urinary system. The male and female reproductive systems. Heredity.
After having completed the course successfully, the student will have knowledge that can be applied in further biomedical studies and research projects.
Learning outcome
- understanding the language of anatomy
- understanding the structure and function of cells and tissues
- state the principles of homeostasis within and between tissues, organs and bodyfunctions
- understand the composition and functions of blood
- know the structure and function of the heart, cardiovascular and respiratory system
- know the principles of acid-base balance, immune system and temperature-regulation of the human body
- have an understanding of the human nervous system and special senses
- understand the priciples concerning endocrinology
- understand the principles concerning digestion, nutrition and the urinary system
- know the structure and function of bones, joints, skeletal and musculary system
- give a description of the human organs
- Male and female reproductive anatomy and physiology, human development and heredity
