The course will develop students' knowledge of HR processes from recruitment to end of work life and organizational development and change processes in order to create healthy, engaging and creative work environments.

Content

Students will gain knowledge on how to organize and work with personnel planning, staffing and recruitment, socialization into the work organization, supervision of employees through performance reviews and other important discourses, practical conflict resolution in the service industry, training, competence- and career development, and Health, Safety, and Environment - issues (HSE). Students will further increase their consciousness relating to responsible leadership, decent work, gender equality, their own values, norms, and experiences, and the value of human resources in service businesses.

Learning outcome

After completing the course students are expected to have the following knowledge, skills, and general knowledge:

Knowledge:

  • have basic knowledge of key principles, themes, and issues in personnel management
  • have knowledge of key processes, tools, and working methods in HR management
  • have knowledge of research and development in the field and current debates and trends
  • have knowledge of the subject area history, development, and place within organizations and service industry
  • have knowledge of primary regulations in the HR-field

Skills/proficiencies:

  • able to participate in governance processes and apply scientific knowledge for planning and implementing organizations' HR policy
  • able to apply and master the relevant methods in HR management
  • able to analyze and define the employees' work situation and adjust and tailor HRM on individual -, group, and organizational level
  • able to reflect on and clarify their own and others' roles and responsibilities in the HR policy workspace

General competence:

  • have knowledge of relevant ethical challenges and issues in the HR policy workspace
  • to identify, analyze and disseminate key subject matter both written and oral, individually and in cooperation with other
  • to locate and relate the field of HR management in relation to the field of management in general
  • have expertise in academic writing technique

The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital subject evaluation must be carried out at least every three years.
